Q 4. What kind of preparation or materials do you recommend interviewees gather before their session with "The Keepsake"?

We recommend interviewees reflect on key life events, significant relationships, memorable anecdotes, and any wisdom they wish to impart. It's helpful to gather any photos, letters, or mementos they'd like to include, as these can serve as wonderful prompts during the interview. We'll provide a more detailed guide upon booking including questionnaire to answer and provoke thoughts.

While we set aside approximately two hours for the interview, it could be longer or shorter depending on the interviewee and the depth of their story. Similarly, the final production can be more than an hour or slightly less, depending on the material supplied.

Q 5. Can you explain why this flexibility is important for "The Keepsake" productions?

This flexibility is crucial because every life story is unique. Some individuals may have very extensive narratives they wish to share, while others might prefer a more concise recounting. Our goal is to allow the story to dictate the pace and length, ensuring we capture all essential elements without feeling rushed. Similarly, the final production length adjusts to naturally accommodate the richness and volume of the recorded interview and the accompanying visual materials, ensuring a cohesive and engaging final product rather than squeezing it into a pre-determined timeframe.

Q 6. You mentioned personal photos are integral. Can we send you physical pictures, or do they need to be digitized?

Yes! you can send us pictures! We suggest copies or digitized versions. If you have physical photos, we prefer you provide copies or high-quality scans. This ensures the originals are not at risk, and digital versions are generally easier to integrate seamlessly into the video production.

Q 7 . How are the personal photos incorporated into the final video presentation?

Personal photos are featured throughout the video production to visually illustrate and enhance the narrative being shared. Photos appear on screen at relevant points, often alongside the interviewee speaking, creating a rich, multi-layered storytelling experience that brings the past to life

Q 8. Is there an opportunity for interviewees to review the video production before it's finalized

Yes, absolutely. We provide a draft version of the video production for review. This allows the interviewee (and their family, if desired) to provide feedback and request any minor adjustments to ensure the final Keepsake truly reflects their vision and story. Two free edits are included in the price and after that costing is by negotiation.

Q 9. You offer to play the person's favourite music. How do you go about sourcing this music, and what kind of discussion ensues

Yes! we will play the person's favourite music, up to 3 songs per presentation. We ask the interviewee beforehand for their preferred song or piece of music. We then attempt to source it from our extensive music library. We will play an short extract of the music if it is available During the interview, we gently prompt them to discuss why that particular piece of music is significant to them – perhaps it evokes a special memory, represents a particular era in their life, or simply brings them joy. This adds another personal and emotional layer to their story. It is incorporated into the video along with any pictures etc that may accompany it. We will endeavour to source any music request, but we cannot guarantee we will find that particular piece of music.

Q 10. What is the typical process from the initial inquiry to receiving the final "Keepsake" video production?

The process generally involves an initial consultation to discuss your needs, scheduling the interview, conducting the approximately two-hour recording session, followed by our post-production phase where we edit the footage and integrate photos and music. We then provide a review copy, incorporate feedback, and deliver the final cherished video production. The entire process typically takes 4 working weeks on average.

Q 11. Are there different package options available for "The Keepsake" productions, or is it a one-size-fits-all service?

We offer different package options designed to suit various needs and preferences. These can range from a basic package focused on the core interview and essential photo integration, to premium packages that include more extensive editing, additional historical research, or multiple copies of the final product. We prioritize confidentiality and respect for every story. All interviews are conducted in a private, comfortable setting. We use secure data storage for all footage and materials, and the final production is only shared with individuals designated by the client. We also ensure that any sensitive topics are handled with the utmost care and respect, guided by the interviewee's comfort level.

Q 13. If I don't live near where you are based in Queensland, what are my options for recording the story?

We understand that our clients come from various locations, and we offer flexible solutions.

Option 1: Travel to your location. We are happy to travel to your preferred location for the interview. Please note that for travel exceeding 100 km from our base in , Queensland, there will be a cost associated with travel expenses.

Option 2: Virtual Interview via Zoom. For those further afield or who prefer a remote option, we can conduct the interview virtually via Zoom. To ensure the highest quality production, we will provide you with a detailed guide and tips to help you prepare your space and technical setup, ensuring your virtual interview is as clear and impactful as an in-person session.
